Often when people contact us to ask about an LED Light Box, what they have in mind is a Duratrans Light Box. They’re the type that people are familiar with, as they’ve been used for some 40 years now in both indoor and outdoor settings.
We have to tell those people that we don’t do Duratrans Light Boxes. Instead, we do something better.
With Duratrans, the print is done on a partial transparent paper sheet. This is then faced and held in position by a thin clear acrylic sheet. This is typically then put in a ‘Snap’ frame which is backlit, originally by fluorescent bulbs but now most commonly by LED lighting.
We instead offer Fabric Light Box solutions, where the prints are produced on high-quality and easy-care fabric rather than thin sheets.
They are a more expensive option than Duratrans, but the advantages far outweigh the difference in cost:
- The colour saturation is far greater with a Fabric Light Box than it is with a Duratrans option.
- A Fabric Light Box solution does not suffer from the glare and reflection caused by the front acrylic panel of a Duratrans fitting.
- Changing out the image is far easier with a Fabric Light Box. This becomes especially true with the larger the image becomes.
We have found that many who originally enquired about a Duratrans Light Box have instead opted for a Fabric Light Box when they learn about these and other benefits, and have been delighted with the results.
